SteveLarson.Com | Flowers of the Wallowa Mountains
Getting eye to eye with the flowers. Composing. Focusing. Choosing the exposure. Waiting for the wind to calm. Triggering the camera with the remote release. Repeat. Repeat. Change the perspective (as John Shaw said: "Move the tripod !!!"). Do it all again. Things required to record the images seen by my mind's eye.
All that after finding the flower in the first place.
The photographs in this album are divided into location. The season is also included for each flower. However, seasons can vary dramatically from year to year in the mountains. No promises that on the same date each year that if you to hike the West Fork Trail, or take the Wallowa Lake Tramway to the top of Mount Howard, that a particular flower will be there. That's part of the adventure of the 'Flowers of the Wallowa Mountains'.

The Overlook
Thu 25 Mar 2010 11:51:26 AM CDTThe Overlook is located about 1/2 mile from the start of the West Fork Trail.
After the first 1/4 mile on the West Fork Trail, take the Chief Joseph Trail that forks off to the right (West) of the West Fork Trail. Just ten steps after that fork there is an old trail/road on the right that goes North. About 1/4 mile up the road you come to the Overlook.
